General Superintendent

We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent to provide operational leadership across major construction projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, to the required quality standards and in line with agreed programmes. The successful candidate will oversee site-based activities from mobilisation through to completion, coordinating multiple trades, subcontractors and suppliers while maintaining a clear focus on productivity, compliance and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities will include developing and monitoring construction programmes, allocating labour and plant, coordinating daily site operations and reviewing progress against key milestones. You will lead site teams, provide direction to superintendents, forepersons and subcontractors, and ensure that all works are properly planned, sequenced and resourced. You will also chair coordination meetings, identify and resolve construction issues, monitor workmanship, and ensure inspections, testing and records are completed accurately.

A strong commitment to health and safety is essential, including enforcing site rules, reviewing risk assessments and method statements, and promoting a positive safety culture. You will support commercial and project management teams by identifying potential delays, variations, resource requirements and delivery risks.

Applicants should have substantial experience in a senior site or construction management role, ideally delivering complex projects within a regulated or technically demanding environment. A recognised construction, engineering or project management qualification is desirable, together with a thorough understanding of construction methods, building regulations, quality assurance and health and safety legislation. Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.

You will be organised, commercially aware and confident working with clients, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders at all levels. The role may require travel between project locations and occasional out-of-hours support to meet programme requirements.
