As an HS Social Studies Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment that fosters student learning and personal growth, develop lesson plans consistent with established guidelines, establish rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge for an effective educational foundation.

You Will Impact Education
  • Plan and implement a program of instruction that aligns with the company’s philosophy, goals and objectives.
  • Create purposeful lesson plans that provide effective teaching strategies and maximize time on task.
  • Present subject matter to students, maximizing learning opportunities and providing real‑world, application‑based examples.
  • Review student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs, maintaining accurate and complete records.
  • Strive to maximize the educational achievement of each student.
  • Use a range of student learning modalities and differentiate instruction within lessons.
  • Utilize diagnostic assessment of student learning on a frequent basis.
  • Assess student strengths and weaknesses frequently, providing appropriate activities and generating progress reports as required.
  • Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
  • Assign lessons, correct student work, and review oral presentations.
  • Coordinate class field trips as required.
  • Prepare students for state‑required achievement assessments.
  • Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory, sharing this knowledge to improve the school’s curriculum.
  • Assist in ongoing curriculum revision processes.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Become acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students.
Provide a Classroom Environment Conducive to Learning
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
  • Maintain positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to aid growth.
  • Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and displays student‑generated work as appropriate.
  • Implement all relevant student conduct policies.
  • Develop reasonable classroom/playground rules in accordance with CSUSA policy and guidelines, maintaining order fairly and consistently.
Instructional Planning
  • Develop lesson plans in line with established guidelines and goals.
  • Plan individual and group learning activities to meet instructional objectives and student needs.
  • Prepare for assigned classes and provide evidence of preparation when requested by supervisory personnel.
  • Collaborate with staff during curriculum planning meetings.
  • Include diagnostic information for IEPs in planning.
  • Take precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities needed for effective instruction.
School/Community Relations
  • Establish cooperative relations and communicate with parents/guardians when appropriate.
  • Communicate clearly, consistently, and positively with parents via appropriate media.
  • Cooperate with administration, staff, and CSUSA.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student records.
  • Participate in parent communication activities.
  • Engage in extracurricular activities to support a positive school culture and help students and staff (as required).
