Step into a meaningful role where your sign language interpreting skills create real impact every day. This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students across elementary, middle, or high school levels at a single school site in the Fort Myers area. You’ll collaborate closely with staff and students, providing essential communication access for learners as they navigate their educational journey—both one-on-one and in small groups.
KeyQualifications And Experience
- Hold a minimum 3.0 EIPA score or higher
- Experience working in educational settings is highly valued
- Current fingerprinting in the state’s AHCA Clearinghouse system, or willingness to complete new fingerprints
- Able to fulfill on-site duties (virtual interpreting is not available for this assignment)
- Strong command of American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with supporting diverse age groups
- Deliver sign language interpretation for DHH students throughout the school day
- Facilitate clear communication between students, educators, and peers
- Adapt interpreting approaches for one-on-one and group settings across a range of grade levels
- Collaborate with educational teams to promote inclusive learning environments
- Assist with classroom activities and school-wide events as needed
