About the Role
Johnson Engineering, an Apex Company, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to support and grow our Florida Drinking Water Division. This position can be based out of Fort Myers, Naples, Port Charlotte or Tampa, Florida. We offer a sign‑on bonus and may provide relocation for the right candidate.
Primary Responsibilities- Supervise and direct technical staff or Project Managers on complex projects.
- Demonstrate leadership in project execution, client interactions, and business development.
- Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, payment applications, RFIs, and change orders.
- Coordinate with field staff and designers; review daily/weekly construction reports.
- Manage project closeout and track construction schedules.
- Train, mentor, and develop Project Managers and staff through seminars and technical guidance.
- Provide QA/QC reviews and technical assistance on projects outside direct involvement.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks; participate in required insurance training.
- Oversee technical accuracy through plan reviews, specification checks, and compliance with firm standards.
- Develop and present technical presentations to clients and at public meetings.
- Lead projects from development through completion, managing scope, budget, schedule, QA/QC, and risk.
- Act as a Public Relations Ambassador, presenting the company's capabilities.
- Seek new client opportunities, prepare proposals, attend public meetings, and support contract negotiations.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineering License.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Drinking Water Utilities, Pump Stations, Water Quality, and Treatment.
- Strong experience working with local clients and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to work in both field and office settings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
- Valid Florida driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Relevant experience in Southwest Florida.
