Staff Mechanical Engineer – Water Systems Pump Specialist

We are seeking a specialized mechanical engineer to lead design and support of pumping systems for water and wastewater treatment projects across Florida and the United States.

• Function as a subject‑matter specialist for pumping systems related to the design of mechanical systems supporting Water & Wastewater Treatment processes.
• Contribute to projects related to Water and Wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and conveyance in Florida and throughout the US.
• Work collaboratively with engineering teams across the US and abroad, with an emphasis on work in Florida.
• Lead design teams and mentor early‑career professionals.
• Engage directly with clients throughout Florida.
• Learn from a highly experienced staff.

• Perform engineering calculations, develop system performance parameters, and create detailed design documents (P&IDs, mechanical layouts, specifications).
• Teach and guide engineers in system design best practices.
• Collaborate with equipment manufacturers, other disciplines, and project stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
• Review submittals and ensure compliance with B&V standards.
• Conduct site visits for assessments and client interactions.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience developing detailed design and technical specifications for pumps and piping systems.
• Knowledge of pumping system design, plant hydraulics, and related engineering tasks.
• Experience with blowers and aeration systems, anaerobic digestion, heating water boilers, heat exchangers, and steel piping systems is beneficial.
• Experience in material and component selection for pumping and piping systems.
• Experience identifying optimal pump sizing and selection for pump station facilities.
• Experience defining pump station operational control strategies/plans.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic principles.
• Ability to communicate complex information effectively through written documentation and verbal presentations.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
• Must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search) if selected.

Professional Engineering license preferred.

• Typical office environment; extended periods of sitting, computer use, and detailed focus.
• May involve physical tasks during site visits (crouching, grasping, standing, walking).
• Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion and job assignments.
• Approximately 15% travel.
