The Opportunity

Black & Veatch is seeking a motivated, self‑reliant, and detail‑oriented person to join our team. This position will combine field and office assignments and may include work outside the local office. While centered in Florida, the role also supports national projects. Responsibilities include water supply evaluations, groundwater well installation, well testing and analysis, injection wells, quantitative hydrogeology, and related tasks. You will lead field data evaluations, prepare well permit applications, generate technical specifications and bid documents, develop schedules and budgets, ensure regulatory compliance, collaborate across disciplines, and produce reports.

The role offers opportunity to guide, train and oversee early‑career professionals and to grow technical, managerial and presentation skills.

The Team

Black & Veatch’s Water Supply & Hydrogeology group helps clients achieve reliable, sufficient, and sustainable water supplies. We provide source water management, water quality evaluations, well rehabilitation, wellfield optimization, conceptual and numerical groundwater modeling, and hydrogeologic solutions that leverage assets and enhance system operability. Our team also supports clients in civil engineering, traditional and alternative energy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, graphical)
  • Work independently on tasks and projects with limited supervision
  • Adherence to internal company health and safety and other processes and policies
  • Provide professional hydrogeological support for a wide range of domestic and potentially international projects
  • Underground Injection Control
  • Develop and support proposal, work plan, and report deliverables
  • Work with project technical leads, project managers, and delivery teams to ensure that work products meet client needs
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
  • Evaluate and interpret collected geologic and hydrogeologic data
  • Prepare or review graphical and tabular data summaries
  • Develop and support the presentation of project findings to clients and technical professionals
  • Oversight of subcontractors and adherence to project specifications and designs
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to knowledge sharing across the practice
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 to 9 years of relevant experience in hydrogeology, geology, or environmental geology
  • Licensed Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer, or equivalent
  • Field experience on projects such as drilling, aquifer testing and analysis, water quality sampling, and evaluation
  • Advanced experience conducting subsurface geologic and hydrogeologic evaluations, hydrogeologic conceptualization, and aquifer characterization
  • Interpolation of hydrogeologic, hydro‑strati graphic, and water quality data
