* Job Description:

**** Overview:
** The Instrument Operator I is responsible for operating surveying instruments and assisting the Party Chief in conducting field surveys. This position is part of a three-person crew and supports the successful completion of land surveying projects.
** Responsibilities:
*** Load and unload surveying supplies and equipment from trucks.
* Inspect and test survey equipment to ensure proper functionality.
* Operate surveying instruments such as data collectors, Total Stations, levels, and GPS-RTK Receivers under supervision.
* Conduct field work to determine the location of natural and man-made features on land surfaces.
* Assist in gathering precise measurements of lines, angles, points, areas, elevations, and boundaries.
* Compile notes, sketches, and records of survey data and work performed.
* Provide basic guidance to Rodmen as directed by the Party Chief.
* Perform additional survey tasks as directed by the Party Chief.

* Qualifications:

*** High school diploma or GED certification.
* 1-2 years of experience in land surveying or a related role.
* Basic ability to operate and obtain land survey data using surveying instruments.
* Ability to perform minor field calculations and analyze spatial and technical data.
* Familiarity with land surveying procedures.
* Ability to work effectively in a team and follow directions from supervisors.
* Physical ability to lift and carry survey equipment up to 35 lbs. and work in various terrains and weather conditions.
* Dependable and reliable.
