About Our Respiratory TeamComprised of over 400 Respiratory team members, our Respiratory Care team provide a wide range of specialized services to support patients with acute and chronic pulmonary conditions in the hospital setting. In addition to core respiratory therapy, services include pulmonary rehabilitation, asthma and COPD education, pulmonary function testing, and interventional procedures such as bronchoscopies and thoracentesis. The team also supports advanced diagnostics through robotic-assisted bronchoscopy and collaborates with the multidisciplinary Lung Nodule Clinic for lung cancer screening and evaluation.
Respiratory therapists play an essential role in managing ventilators, providing airway support, and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across critical care and acute care units.

Gulf Coast Medical Center is a 699-bed Acute Care Facility in the heart of Fort Myers. At Gulf Coast Medical Center, the respiratory/pulmonary care team is a fully integrated component of the hospital's critical and acute care services. Their work spans the continuum from emergency ventilator management through post-discharge pulmonary rehabilitation and education.
As a Lead Respiratory Therapist, you will perform all clinical activities per assigned shift. Participate in staff scheduling, assure appropriate shift coverage, on-call coverage, and related activities of the staff. Also participate in employee orientation, training and competency determinations. May perform staff blood gas competencies if qualified as a Key Operator. Actively participate in clinical evaluations of products and/or procedures. Provide conflict resolution, handle front-line complaints, and act as the resource staff member for the shift.
Our Lead Respiratory Therapist Critical Care team members are ACCS or NPS certified and function as an expert in critical care areas (pediatric, neonatal and adult critical care). They are utilized as a resource for less experienced staff. In order to qualify for a Registered Respiratory Therapist Critical Care position, you must have at least 2 years of critical care experience in addition to an Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) or Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS) certification as appropriate to population served/specialty.

Bachelors required to perform duties of a Technical Consultant
Experience Requirements: Minimum 2 years experience in respiratory critical care.
State of Florida Licensure Requirements: Registered Respiratory Therapist License
Certifications/Registration Requirements: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP (based on hospital population) required. Intubation certificate & Arterial line insertion certificate can be obtained.
