Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy, acting as a role model, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team.

Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by managing and improving patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
  • Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts.
  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and directing the team to do the same.
  • Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the pharmacy team, collaborating with the patient’s healthcare team, and proactively resolving insurance and medication issues.
  • Offer and deliver immunizations, engaging Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory in all pharmacies worked, following inventory best practices and protecting cold‑chain products.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
  • Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, pursue trainings and CMEs, and seek opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients.
  • Provide pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception) where permissible.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS Health policies and procedures to support patient safety and a safe workplace.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located.
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
Essential Functions
  • Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
  • Attention and Focus
    • Concentrate on tasks over time and pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs.
    • Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation
    • Actively help people in a friendly manner.
    • Notice and respond appropriately to patient reactions.
  • Communication Skills
    • Use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues.
    • Practice active listening, asking questions, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Mathematical Reasoning
    • Use math to calculate total tablets, day’s supply, and number of bottles needed to fill a prescription.
  • Problem Resolution
    • Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action.
  • Physical Demands
    • Remain mobile, upright, and lift up to 20 lbs as required.
    • Reach overhead, stretch, and perform tasks requiring precision and frequent finger use.
    • Control machines and adjust positions quickly.
    • Use close visual acuity for tasks such as reading, transcribing, and inspecting small parts.
    • Receive and convey detailed information through oral communication.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
