Your Impact
In this flexible relief role, your contributions may include:
- Conducting medical evaluations and triage for new arrivals and in-shelter animals
- Providing urgent care and stabilizing emergency cases
- Performing surgical and dental procedures as needed
- Collaborating on treatment plans with staff veterinarians and leadership
- Ensuring adherence to shelter medicine protocols and public health standards
- Supporting cruelty or neglect investigations through medical documentation
Qualifications:To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)or equivalent from an accredited veterinary institution recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)
- Active Florida Veterinarian Licensein good standing at the time of hire
- USDA Category I license, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment
- Ability to obtain aFederal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Status: On-call, relief-based scheduling
Hours: As needed, typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; may include occasional after-hours availability for emergency consultation
