Your Impact

In this flexible relief role, your contributions may include:

  • Conducting medical evaluations and triage for new arrivals and in-shelter animals
  • Providing urgent care and stabilizing emergency cases
  • Performing surgical and dental procedures as needed
  • Collaborating on treatment plans with staff veterinarians and leadership
  • Ensuring adherence to shelter medicine protocols and public health standards
  • Supporting cruelty or neglect investigations through medical documentation

Qualifications:To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)or equivalent from an accredited veterinary institution recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)
  • Active Florida Veterinarian Licensein good standing at the time of hire
  • USDA Category I license, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment
  • Ability to obtain aFederal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Status: On-call, relief-based scheduling

Hours: As needed, typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; may include occasional after-hours availability for emergency consultation
