• Perform professional grooming services (bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts & styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, gland cleaning) with moderate supervision.
• Operate & maintain grooming instruments (clippers, blades, shears, brushes, dryers).
• Prioritize animal safety & well‑being, monitor for discomfort, illness or injury, report concerns.
• Evaluate individual pet needs (coat type, skin conditions, temperament).
• Interact professionally with pet parents, address inquiries, offer grooming recommendations & timely resolution.
• Educate pet parents on grooming maintenance & at‑home care practices & products.
• Maintain clean & safe grooming area, disinfect & sanitize tools & equipment, perform daily & weekly cleaning duties per Petco hygiene & sanitation policies.
• Utilize knowledge of Petco grooming policies, standards & guidelines to ensure safety, quality, consistency in all activities.
• May train, support, & supervise entry‑level trainees in absence of a Grooming Salon Leader.

• Successful completion of Pet Stylist Apprentice program or previous experience as a professional groomer and/or completion of a technical grooming training program.
• High‑school diploma or GED preferred, though not required.
• Independent judgment & problem solving using grooming skills & knowledge to solve routine to moderately complex situations.
• Results‑driven with commitment to productivity, performance, & ownership of role.
• Strong attention to detail, ensuring grooming services are executed accurately and to the highest standards.
• Genuine passion for animals with a desire to continue a career in pet grooming.
• Expert knowledge of various dog breeds, grooming requirements, common health issues & behaviors.
• High level of proficiency in breed‑specific cuts, styling techniques, & grooming standards.
• Strong verbal & written communication skills for interactions with pet parents & grooming team members.
• Capable of handling pets of all sizes & temperaments with care & empathy.
• Available to work weekends, evenings, & holidays, as required by the Pet Care Center’s grooming schedule.

Indoors in the grooming salon. Requires bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 lbs, standing long periods. Exposure to heights using a two‑step ladder or other support tools, such as vacuums.

Direct contact with pet parents & dogs; noisy & wet environment.
