The Utilities Department is seeking a skilled and motivated Trades worker - Water Infrastructure to join our team. This is advanced-level technical and trades work involving the maintenance, repair, and installation of water distribution systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in utility work and a strong understanding of water infrastructure systems.
- Perform complex repairs, maintenance, and installations of water distribution infrastructure.
- Install, replace, and repair water lines (1–36), water valves, fire hydrants, and water meters.
- Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment, including:
- Track hoes
- Backhoes
- Loaders
- Vac‑Con trucks
- Dump trucks
- Utilize hand and power tools specific to the trade.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in the water distribution system.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, and technical sketches.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and the public.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum six (6) months of relevant work experience in utilities or a related field, such as:
- Water or sewer systems
- Natural gas
- Irrigation
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Telecommunications installation
- Valid Class E Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Must possess a Florida Class A Commercial Learner’s Permit with Tanker Endorsement prior to receiving a job offer.
- Must obtain a Florida Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement within 90 days of hire.
- The Utilities Department will provide training, equipment, and cover all associated costs to help you obtain your CDL.
- Must complete and pass the DEP Level 3 Water Distribution Operator training course and exam within two years of hire.
- This is a safety-sensitive position and subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing as per DOT regulation 49 CFR Parts 40 and/or 382.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under minimal supervision.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
On‑Call: Required rotation including nights, weekends, and holidays
