Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing or electrical or mechanical equipment; or Vocational/technical training in mechanical repair or one of the building trades can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for a maximum of one year of the required experience. Requires possession of a valid Driver License.

The position, headquartered at the Fort Myers State Farmers Market, Lee, provides a broad range of repair and maintenance functions.

Responsibilities include:

• Installs, maintains and repairs electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Inspects municipal water supplies; maintains and inspects safety equipment, emergency lighting, and fire extinguishers monthly to ensure operational status and compliance.
• Performs cement/concrete work, minor welding/brazing, and minor asphalt repairs.
• Installs, maintains and repairs valves, sinks, wash bowls, sewers and other sanitary fixtures.
• Maintains and repairs heating and air conditioning equipment.
• Operates and maintains power equipment and tools, including power saws, drills, chain saws, bench grinders, lawn mowers, and other equipment as necessary.
• Performs lawn care and general grounds maintenance; maintains maintenance records and inventory of market supplies.
• Cleans and stocks public restrooms; performs other related work as assigned by supervisor.
• Assists with phone, scale and office duties when Market Manager and Clerk are not present.

• General principles of skilled building trades or mechanical repair work and safety procedures in maintenance and repair.
• Skill in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work.
• Ability to perform a variety of skilled trades functions.
• Read blueprints.
• Install, maintain and repair electric motors, generators and other mechanical equipment.
• Take accurate measurements and follow instructions.
• Ability to climb ladders to perform maintenance tasks; ability to lift 50 lbs.
