Diagnose, service, and repair marine diesel and gasoline propulsion engines and generator sets on recreational and commercial vessels.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform systematic engine diagnostics using manufacturer information, scan tools, meters, pressure testing, and mechanical inspection.
  • Complete scheduled engine service, cooling-system service, fuel-system maintenance, and starting or charging-system diagnosis.
  • Troubleshoot overheating, fuel-delivery, exhaust, turbocharger, injector, and electronic-control faults within demonstrated competency.
  • Inspect transmissions, mounts, hoses, belts, heat exchangers, and supporting engine-room systems.
  • Document test results, required parts, and recommended next steps for owners or captains.

Qualifications:

  • Practical diesel or gasoline engine diagnostic experience; marine engine experience and manufacturer training are preferred.
  • Ability to use service manuals, diagnostic software, meters, gauges, and mechanical test equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for mobile service across Southwest Florida.
  • Ability to work safely aboard customer vessels, including confined machinery spaces when the assignment requires it.
  • Professional communication, accurate job notes, and respect for customer vessels and marina rules.

Experience requirements:
Practical engine service and diagnostic experience is required for independent assignments. Marine manufacturer training is preferred but not required for every candidate.

Education requirements:

No specific degree is required. Relevant technical training and demonstrated ability are evaluated for the role.

Working hours:

Full-time, year-round work. Service operations normally run Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with individual schedules coordinated around customer vessel appointments.

Compensation:
This is a W-2, premium daily-rate position. The actual rate is discussed on the first call and is based on verified experience, certifications, demonstrated diagnostic ability, and technical skill.
