The quality engineer coordinates the implementation of quality control processes to ensure that products meet the required standards. Revisions and maintenance of standard operating procedures, root cause analysis of quality issues, and corrective actions are performed. The quality engineer also performs audits and leads the qualification of new parts and processes.
What You Will Do- Creates, updates, and controls Standard Operation Procedures and Quality Instructions formats.
- Revises line ups of new parts and approves them for production once the correct instructions and quality records are in place.
- Participates and takes initiative in implementing preventive and corrective actions, performing root cause analysis, and applying problem solving methods. Ensures effective cooperation with stakeholders; clarifies issues. This position is expected to contribute to and deliver solutions, in a self‑managed and target‑oriented manner.
- Leads internal process and product qualifications efforts (FMEA, MQCP, Gage R&R). Coordinates a team that analyzes, tests, or implements processes. Works closely with the area’s Manufacturing Engineer.
- Performs process audits, reports findings and follows up on generated action items.
- Ensures and implements quality related standards, guidelines and programs in a specific area assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline (for example, Industrial, Mechanical). 5+ years of experience.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment across all disciplines within the organization including operations, maintenance, order planning, EHS, as well as contracted services.
- Excellent analytical and verbal/written communication skills. Ability to analyze data using Excel, Minitab, Tableau, or other software is required.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and use precision measuring tools, i.e., calipers, micrometers, tapes, snap gauges, etc. Familiar with the metric system for measurement.
- Preferred qualifications include experience in manufacturing operations that produce parts with complex engineering specifications, knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001 and familiarity with key quality tools. Experience with SAP OPP is highly preferred.
($70k to $80k). Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job‑related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.
Work RequirementsThis role is considered an on‑site position located in Fort Payne, AL.
- You must be able to commute to and from the location with your own transportation arrangements to meet the required working hours.
