A machinist’s day typically begins with reviewing blueprints and specifications to understand the requirements for the parts they will be creating. They then set up and operate various machines, such as lathes and milling machines, to fabricate components, ensuring precision and quality throughout the process. Throughout the day, they may also conduct inspections, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with team members to meet production goals.

• Set up and operate advanced machines including horizontal and vertical milling machines, CNC milling machines and speed mills according to the instructions or work packages.
• Check machined dimensions using various precision measurement tools to verify tolerances, dimensions and to perform first article inspections on parts.
• Set up and program parts utilizing “G” Code to write machining programs for a specific part.
• Requires the use of judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions as to the sequence of setups, operations, and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.

• AAS or Machine Tool Technology certificate and/or equivalent machining experience
• Proficient in reading blueprints.
• Proficient in shop mathematics.
• Proven experience operating horizontal and vertical milling machines, CNC Milling machines and speed mills.
• Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
