QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The qualifications and skill requirements for these adjunct faculty nursing positions include

* A current Florida RN licensure and a minimum of two (2) years recent experience for all nursing programs.

* In addition, for each nursing program indicated below, the following specific credentials and experience are required:

Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Assistant:

* Current Florida RN licensure

* Two years recent experience; long term care experience

Practical Nursing:

* Credentialed with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in nursing

* Current experience in long term care and/or acute care experience

Associate Degree in Nursing:

* Credentialed with a minimum of a Master's degree with a major in nursing

* Current experience in acute care

Bachelor of Science in Nursing:

* Credentialed with a minimum of a Master's degree with a major in nursing

* Doctorate in nursing or related field preferred

* Current experience in acute care

* Instructors must have current knowledge and technical practices within the scope of practice for a Registered Nurse and be knowledgeable regarding the roles and scope of practice for the Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Registered Nurse.

* All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution, and all instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential job functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Preparing, instructing and grading all class coursework;

* Assigning final grades;

* Adjunct nursing faculty must adhere to the guidelines of Indian River State College, Florida Board of Nursing, and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
