Job Description

Tired of scrolling job boards?

Just a word of encouragement that even though we don’t know you (yet!), we’re praying for you! We trust that God is working out his plan for your ultimate good. He will lead you right where you need to be. The church needs you now more than ever. Please keep going!

Community Christian Church is seeking a Student Minister. Community Christian Church is a community loved by Jesus that wants to see Jesus loved by our community. We are a two services on Sunday church and 550+ strong. Since the very beginning in 1973, the heartbeat of Community has been introducing kids and students to Jesus.

Our Midweek program engages numerous adults in service and leading and reaches 50-80 middle school and high school students weekly. The highlight of our high school student calendar is attending MOVE conference in the summer. Last year we took a group of 98. This is not a ministry that needs to be built, it already is. What it needs is the next chapter.

We’d love to talk about how you might be the author for that task.

Did we mention we’re about longevity here? Just three of our ministry pros have a combined experience of 87 years right here  more about our church and staff please stalk us all you want at our website Church Website, Facebook page Church FB Page, and You Tube channel Church You Tube. Seriously, check us out and watch at least a sermon or two.

Get past our lead guys mustache and zero in to make sure you’re good with this guy yapping at you every Sunday for the next decade.

Student Ministry

Student Ministry at Community is dedicated to middle school and high school youth, with the possibility of some attention being given to an upstart college age ministry if you have the right drive.

We strive to make STRONG student believers. Sold out to Jesus. Together for good. Ready for change. Others centric. Never on the sidelines. Generous always. We want students to be taught the story of Jesus from the word and led to make him Lord in the way that makes the most sense for them in our cultural setting.

We have a remodeled and dedicated youth space for our Midweek program, with sound, lights, and projection.

The Midweek time includes

  • Meal for the students,
  • Open gym,
  • A session with games,
  • Worship,
  • Preaching, and
  • Adult led small groups.

The Right Person For This Job Will

  • Excel at managing and recruiting adult team members for the ministry, as well as
  • Being a loving and relatable face for students
  • Teaching and preaching talent are a must.

Special student events and retreats can be shaped in various ways to fuel participation at the Midweek program. Summer camps and MOVE conference are a regular part of our summer. The ministry is going; it just needs a face to spin it and make it better.

Fort Scott

Fort Scott Kansas is an historic town in southeast Kansas that grew out of an original US frontier fort, Fort Scott, built in 1842. The restored Fort and historic downtown are visited by tourists year round. The current population is 7,500, and 15,000 people live within a 15 minute drive of the church.

Fort Scott has one main public school system with great Christian school options too. Fort Scott makes an always challenging, sometimes frustrating job of student ministry the breath of fresh air that it should be. The high school has an enrollment of about 500 students.

There is plenty to do in the Fort, but Kansas City (north) or Joplin (south) can be reached with a short 60ish minute drive if you need a quick reminder of why you chose a town with just six stoplights to raise your kids.

Housing will be cheaper for you here than 90% of the country. Fort Scott is largely conservative, pretty blue collar, and has one big family. It’s not the perfect town (what town is?), but for the Scotians who have called this place home for a minute, there’s no place we’d rather be. We think it’s the epicenter of the universe.

To Apply
