OverviewEmbark on a fulfilling career at BNSF Railway in the Engineering Department, Track Maintenance Team. This is a full-time position that involves constructing, inspecting, and repairing tracks and other railroad assets and maintaining railway corridors. Travel to job sites for extended periods is required in the designated seniority region.

Entry rate is approx. $36.30/hr.
- Track maintenance, repair, and installation, including repair and rebuild of railroad track and maintenance tasks such as pulling spikes, cutting, welding, or drilling rail; maintain a clean right of way by removing hazards.
- Maintain trackbed by compressing ballast, removing/installing ties, replacing and adjusting rail, and lifting/carrying materials with assistance.
- Operate equipment and tools (electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic) as well as hand tools, shovels, picks, and grinders.
- Work in a safety-sensitive environment under diverse and extreme weather conditions; walk on uneven surfaces; work around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
- Participate in daily safety conversations and follow safety regulations, wear PPE, and respond to concerns and emergencies.
- Training is company-paid, on-the-job and classroom-based, with travel to the BNSF Training Center.
- Able to work now and in the future without BNSF’s assistance in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization.
- At least 18 years of age or older by start date.
- Possess a valid state-issued driver’s license.
- Ability to report for duty at the designated work location and to travel as required.
- Able to work safely in the above working conditions and to meet shift/hours requirements.
- Able to read, write and communicate in English.
- Able to travel to and remain on job sites in the designated region for extended periods.
- Able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs occasionally.
- Able to visually distinguish colors (red, blue, green, yellow) and detect signals/alarms in the work environment.
- Able to use hands to perform tasks requiring gripping, turning, and pulling; occasionally climb on/off equipment; bend, walk, stand, and sit for extended times; follow safety procedures and wear PPE.

Union membership is with the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees (BMWE) and union dues are required per union agreement. Seniority district transfers are handled per union agreement and require Director approval. All positions require pre-employment background verification, medical review, and pre-employment drug screen. Federal authority may require a TWIC for certain roles.
