POSITION TITLE:

School Psychology Examiner FLSA:

REPORTS TO:

Director Of Special Education BEGINNING:  School Year. CONTRACT DAYS: 190 Days and benefits will be specified in the employee contract. Contract will be prorated based on the actual start date. QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Ability to observe, administer and interpret standardized testing instruments that measure cognitive and academic abilities, or describe behavior, personality characteristics, attitude or aptitude, in order to determine eligibility for special education services, placement, or conduct re‑evaluation, or occupational guidance and planning.
  • Enables students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by ensuring appropriate identification of students with disabilities referred to the district student assessment team, compliance with district, state, and federal requirements for the implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
  • Provides consultation and training on special education concerns.
  • Must be sensitive to and knowledgeable of the challenges of assessment considering the individual diversity of the child, including cultural/ethnic factors.
  • Attends professional growth activities, maintains current knowledge of trends, requirements, and special education legal and procedural developments. Attends workshops, seminars, or classes, as appropriate. Applies and uses knowledge gained to promote progress in special education area.
  • Maintains accurate files and paperwork for individual students referred, screened, and evaluated, and other diagnostic team‑provided, data‑based services.
  • Use information technology to assist with lesson preparation, teaching and reporting set tests, exams, projects, assignments and homework; mark and correct assessments.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with children, parents and teachers.
  • Read and interpret research in behavioral and clinical assessment.
  • Evaluate and report on the progress of students, and discuss individual performance and problems with students and parents.
  • Carries out duty as assigned, including after school or before school duties.
  • Actively utilizes education technology.
  • Lecturing and discussing concepts.
  • Diagnose and evaluate student abilities and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Follows all TESS rubric “proficient” level expectations for their role.
  • Supervises students on recess, bus, during before and after school duty, on field trips, extracurricular events, and in out-of‑classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
  • Attends building events/activities at night, as requested by administration.
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain positive professional working relationships with others.
  • Maintains emotional control under stress.
  • Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting.
