We have an exciting opportunity open for a Gas Controller Trainee, Swing Shift based in Fort Smith, AR. The Swing Shift work schedule consists of the following days and hours. Work schedule is 10 pm to 10 am on both Saturday and Sunday. Monday to Friday Flex Shifts will vary and be equivalent to 16 scheduled work hours.

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary duty of a Gas Controller Trainee is to learn to monitor and regulate system pressures and flow and adjust as necessary to ensure a reliable gas supply for Summit-AOG's natural gas customers.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Gas Controller Trainee will be required to monitor changing weather conditions, acquire working knowledge of system operations, and communicate with gas controllers, operations supervisors, and representatives of connecting pipelines.
  • Additionally, a Gas Controller Trainee will train to understand transportation and purchase contracts and how to apply their provisions for day-to-day operations.
  • This position serves as a communications link between field personnel, corporate staff, and interconnecting pipelines.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • 5 years of experience in the natural gas industry, preferred.
  • Experience in high pressure mechanical system operations, computer control system operation, and customer service in a technical field. Experience in natural gas or power industry preferred.
  • Understanding of valve operations, pressure, temperature, and flow measurement a plus.
  • Knowledge of dynamics of compressible gases/fluids, compression, DOT regulations. SCADA systems, nominations, scheduling, and pipeline operations are a definite plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of gas distribution and transmission systems
  • Excellent communication, judgment, and analytical skills.
  • Strong background in the use of computer systems and databases & familiarity with computer control system operations and remote communications technology.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Make critical decisions while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the gas system, suppliers, contracts, and operation procedures is required.
  • Must be able to make decisions quickly and accurately, be available on call and understand problems and act.
  • Gas Controller must also possess the ability to deal with irate contractors, producers, gas brokers, and production operators in a professional manner.
  • Able to evaluate and revision Standard Operating Procedures and Control Room Management.
