The Sr Teller (Float) is responsible for conducting transactions with speed, accuracy and efficiency while meeting or exceeding service quality standards. This role is also responsible for safeguarding the bank assets assigned to them, as well as contributing to the growth of the bank by promoting and cross‑selling bank products and services. The Sr Teller (Float) position involves floating, or traveling, to different branch locations as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Receives, pays out cash, handles negotiable items, loan payments, deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
- Sets up, closes and balances teller station.
- Records sales of monetary instruments.
- Assists customers with inquiries in person or by telephone.
- Maintains a neat and well‑stocked teller area.
- Cross‑sells bank products and services.
- Follows limits established for protection of customer accounts and bank safety and soundness.
- Adheres to bank policies and procedures.
- Lifts coin bags up to 50 lbs.
- Balances vault, ATM, night drop, and coin machine as assigned.
- Scans bank documents and proof work.
- Exercises sound judgment when applying holds and making check‑cashing decisions.
- Assists other tellers with decision making within their authority limits.
- Cross‑trains to open all standard consumer accounts.
- Adheres to work schedule.
- Maintains a positive, friendly and professional attitude and appearance.
- Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned (performed as needed).
- Works in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience
Equivalent to four years of high school or GED, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or other relevant areas. Requires 19 to 23 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Communication SkillsAbility to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person‑to‑person and in small group situations with customers, clients, the general public and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers, and to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.
Software SkillsBasic proficiency with 10‑key entry, spreadsheets, word processing/typing.
Critical Thinking SkillsAbility to use common‑sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions, and to deal with problems involving a few known variables in routine‑nature situations.
Working ConditionsSomewhat disagreeable working conditions; continuously exposed to one or two elements such as noise, intermittent standing, walking, and occasional pushing, carrying, or lifting.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs; regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
AdditionalInformation
Employee must be available to float between work locations as needed and must be flexible in availability for the work schedule. The position requires frequent use of a vehicle during and sometimes after business hours to perform the required duties of the job.
