Required Qualifications
  • One year’s recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
  • Valid ARRT or RCIS/RCES Certification in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Valid Radiologic Technologist license in compliance with state regulations
  • PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification
  • Other relevant certifications may be required
Summary

The Interventional Radiology Technologist assists physicians in performing minimally invasive procedures using advanced imaging technology. Responsibilities include patient and equipment preparation, operating fluoroscopic and other imaging modalities, and ensuring patient safety in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.

Essential Work Functions
  • Prepare and position patients for procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
  • Operate imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound
  • Assist physicians in sterile procedures, instrument passing, and maintaining sterility
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural details
  • Administer contrast media and monitor for adverse reactions
  • Implement radiation safety protocols for patients, staff, and self
  • Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment to ensure readiness
  • Manage and restock procedural supplies including catheters, guide wires, and contrast agents
  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other team members for seamless patient care
  • Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols
  • Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support IR lab operations
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication
  • Proficient reading, writing, and speaking in English
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions; PC skills
  • Physical: stationary position, moving equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, bend
  • Interpersonal: work effectively with diverse personnel, maintain professionalism
  • Technical/Motor: fine manipulation, assist procedures, use department equipment
  • Mental: cope with public contact, meet deadlines, work under supervision and independently, handle irregular schedules, maintain detail concentration
  • Sensory: visual acuity and effective communication
