The General Manager reports to the Supply Chain Manager and/or the Director of Packaging and Distribution.
Responsibilities- Develop operational metrics to drive facility, shift, and individual associate performance in the areas of safety, quality, inventory accuracy, productivity, and damage elimination.
- Daily balancing of labor availability against volume requirements throughout the facility.
- Evaluate warehousing procedures and design new methods of efficiency in warehousing and docks, minimizing costs, responsible for the most effective utilization of workspace and labor.
- Manage and coordinate the activities of all disciplines in the warehouse to ensure performance objectives are met.
- Increase warehouse productivity through the ability to plan, organize, and direct personnel resources and implement programs for improvement.
- Partner with Human Resources to develop, implement, and measure effectiveness of employee performance management and development initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve operations and create standardized business processes that increase performance, minimize costs, and enhance customer service.
- Create and maintain a well-trained staff with cross-training and mentoring.
- Ensure company policies (budget, progressive discipline, recognition, and retention) are communicated, administered, and enforced.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all necessary reports and records regarding warehouse operations.
- Manage warehouse-related budgets and expenses; assist in the annual preparation of budget documentation.
- Participate in administrative staff meetings and other meetings, such as seminars.
- Perform duties in a safe, clean, and organized manner.
- Participate in special projects as required.
- Perform all duties as required and assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Three to five years’ experience in a managerial role in a materials and logistics environment with leadership responsibilities.
- Three to five years’ experience in project management, applying supply chain technologies to solve business problems.
- APICS Certification and knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma practices a plus.
- Exceptional communication skills and a hands-on management approach that encourages change and creative problem-solving.
- Working knowledge of software applications in WMS, RF, MS Office, Visio, and related tools.
