Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Occupational Health & Safety
SUMMARY
The incumbent, under the direction of the Training & Safety Supervisor, is responsible for monitoring workplace safety practices, conducting worksite safety inspections/investigations and for assisting in the preparation and implementation of a training program that will develop the abilities of personnel to safely and effectively perform their job duties.
This position also assists with general administrative duties of the Training and Safety Section to ensure compliance with requirements of the Arkansas Department of Health, Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, Arkansas Department of Labor, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Consent Decree.

Must show cooperation and respect to fellow employees and supervisors at all times. All other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or department director.
- Audit and monitor workplace safety conditions and practices and report findings to the Training and Safety Supervisor
- Conduct safety inspections
- Verify safety equipment is inspected as required and maintained in good working order
- Assist with the compliance of State and Federal regulations pertaining to environmental and safety requirements
- Assist with development and implementation of a training program for employees in the areas of safety, technical and skills training. Assist the Trainer as needed with new employee orientation and coordinating/conducting training sessions, including setup and breakdown of training venues
- Prepare and submit training approval requests with the appropriate agencies that administer or regulate licensing and certification
- Participate in physical inventory of chemical supplies and maintain associated Safety Data Sheets
- Assist with development of safety procedures
- Assist with safety training programs as needed (i.e. emergency action plans for high hazard dams, risk management plans for hazardous chemical releases, etc.)
- Track and maintain related records

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

- High school diploma or GED
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), with Passenger Endorsement, within 9 months of employment
- One (1) year experience in a position with general industry or construction safety responsibilities, including conducting workplace safety inspections or incident investigations
- Must be able to complete OSHA 30-hour course within 12 months of employment
- May consider any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work
- Certification related to workplace safety or experience
- Advanced organizational skills with prior work experience in coordinating training events
- Experience in DOT compliance
- Previous experience speaking in groups and conducting training classes
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to the principles, practices, and methods for ensuring general safety of the workforce, equipment, and workplace
