Position Description
POSITION TITLE: Social Worker
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Chief of Police
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: A full contract for this position is 190 days, with benefits as specified in employee contract. Contract will be prorated based on actual start date.
BEGINNING: January 2026
QUALIFICATIONS- Must be a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) by the Arkansas Social Work Licensing Board.

- Work under the supervision of the Chief of Police in collaboration with Student Services.
- Coordinate district threat assessment teams
- Develop and lead threat management and safety plans for students
- Serve as a liaison with outside agencies
- Participate in ongoing threat assessment training (ATAP, MDT meetings, etc.)
- Maintain accurate documentation of all threats, safety plans, and follow-up actions
- Provide counseling and crisis response support for students who are referred by police officers.
- Promote children’s social competence.
- Advocate for services for all children.
- Review all Violence Threat Reports and conduct follow up services for students involved.
- Conduct home visits and refer families to appropriate community resources.
- Refer children and families to community agencies.
- Obtain information from the child’s parents or other family members for the advocacy of the child.
- Work with children on an individual and group basis.
- Work in cooperation with all school staff.
- Interpret district attendance policies to parents, students, and the community.
- Maintain a friendly relationship between the home and school.
- File FINS petitions in juvenile court as needed.
- Attend and participate in all meetings and trainings as required.
- File all reports in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Provide appropriate training for teachers and staff.
- Function as a liaison between the school and the juvenile court system.
- Prepare accurate records and documentation that may be required by the juvenile court.
- Work in cooperation with homes, schools, courts, social agencies, and community groups so that suitable care and directions for school‑age children may be maintained.
- Encourage students and parents toward good school attendance and behavior.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS- Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
