Location:

Chance Light Education, Fort Smith, AR 72903, USA.

Pay or shift range: $15 USD to $16 USD per hour.

Description

Instructional Aide – supporting students in Grades K‑5 through individualized instruction, behavior management, and IEP implementation.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions on and off campus.
  • Assist with lesson instruction, ensuring fidelity and student comprehension.
  • Track student progress, communicate with teachers, and provide recommendations.
  • Manage student behavior, applying consistent discipline procedures.
  • Support students with academic and life skills development.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of behaviors and performance.
  • Prepare behavioral reports, activity logs, and related documentation.
  • Communicate proactively with students, staff, supervisors, and families.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Participate in school performance and accreditation activities.
  • Attend meetings, including parent and advisory meetings.
  • Respond to feedback and demonstrate professional growth.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and passage of a basic skills test.
  • Associate degree or higher in education or a related field preferred.
  • Paraprofessional, para educator, education assistant, or similar credential preferred.
  • Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
  • Prior experience supporting children in alternative, special education, or behavioral health settings.
  • Experience working with students with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, emotional behavior disorders, or related disabilities.
  • Calmness and quick decision‑making in emergencies.
  • Strong motivational and communication skills with students.
  • Excellent organizational, conflict resolution, multitasking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology, Microsoft Office, and database entry.
