Position: Telemetry Technician- Nights 7PM-7AM (12 Hours)

Telemetry Technician - Nights 7PM-7AM (12 Hours)

Reports to the Virtual Health inpatient Manager. The Telemetry Technician will continuously observe and interpret assigned ECG rhythm monitors, ensuring prompt response and maintenance of alarms or ECG changes. They will correctly identify and respond to basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact, escalating changes to the bedside nurse, charge nurse, or team lead. Monitoring occurs from a centralized location and covers multiple patients throughout the shift.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform various activities regarding telemetry monitoring on patients requiring continual cardiac monitoring and oversee cardiac patterns on telemetric devices.
  • Ensure complete and accurate information in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Document irregular rhythms and monitor changes in heartbeat.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, providers, support staff, co‑workers, and management.
  • Contribute to procedures, patient education, and training as assigned; participate in peer review, quality assurance, and other committee functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Process admissions, transfers, and discharge orders appropriately.
  • Assist in orienting new telemetry technician personnel.
  • Use knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EPIC).
Education
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Complete SEH/SEP ECG class and pass exam yearly minimum score of 85% and 100% on lethal arrhythmias.
Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of applicable experience. Must be a quick learner, adaptable, able to work in pressure situations, work well in a group, coachable and open to learning a new skill.
  • Desired:
    Prior experience as a telemetry technician.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Minimum:
    Valid driver’s license for travel between sites.
  • Desired:
    Telemetry Technician Certification.
