Position: Telemetry Technician- Part Time 12 Hours (Nights 7PM-7AM)

Telemetry Technician – Part Time (12 Hours Nights 7PM‑7AM)

Reports to the Virtual Health inpatient Manager. The Telemetry Technician will continuously observe and interpret assigned ECG rhythm monitors, ensuring prompt response to alarms or ECG changes. The technician will correctly identify and respond to basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifacts, escalating rhythm change notifications to the bedside nurse, charge nurse, or Telemetry Technician team lead based on established processes. Monitoring occurs from a centralized location and the technician will monitor multiple patients for the entirety of the shift.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Perform various activities regarding telemetry monitoring on patients requiring continual cardiac monitoring.
  • Oversee and communicate cardiac patterns on telemetric devices.
  • Ensure complete and accurate information in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Document irregular rhythms and monitor changes in heartbeat.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, providers, support staff, co‑workers, and management.
  • Contribute to the development of protocols, procedures, patient education, and training as assigned.
  • Participate in peer review, quality assurance, and other committee functions.
  • Process admissions, transfers, and discharge orders appropriately.
  • Assist in the orientation of new telemetry technician personnel.
  • Maintain knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EPIC).
Education and Credentials
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Complete SEH/SEP ECG class and pass the exam yearly with a minimum score of 85% and 100% on lethal arrhythmias.
Experience
  • Minimum: 1 year of applicable experience.
  • Desired:
    Prior experience as a telemetry technician.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Minimum:
    Valid driver’s license for travel between sites.
  • Desired:
    Telemetry Technician Certification.

  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EPIC).
