Fort Valley State University, a land‑grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Natural and Computational Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate level Mathematics and related courses in a face‑to‑face, online, or hybrid format.
- Teach courses as assigned by the department chair per term and maintain office hours (a minimum of 10 hours per week).
- Advise students and actively participate in recruitment of students.
- Exhibit the potential to carry out research of good quality and strengthen the program.
- Participate in the solicitation of external funding.
- Participate in the continuous assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Review and plan curricula.
- Serve on departmental, college, and university level committees.
- Participate in community service and outreach programs on behalf of the institution.
- Provide services to the university and professional organizations.
- Assist students in acquiring internship and job placement.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Ph.D. in Mathematics.
- Coursework or inclination in research and teaching differential equations, numerical analysis, abstract algebra, probability, statistics, and data science.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have graduate‑level coursework in statistics, data science, or related areas.
- 2–3 years of experience teaching at the university level.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, oral, written communication skills and teamwork.
- Demonstrated success in research and scholarly activities.
- Demonstrated ability to work with traditional and non‑traditional students.
