Mortgage Field Services Inspector
FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Independent contractors earn predictable, full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
Responsibilities- Complete each inspection within 5–6 minutes.
- Finish inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
- Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
- Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
- Complete a short form in a mobile app.
- Spend extended periods driving and making numerous stops during the day within the assigned territory.
- Computer with internet connection.
- Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus, as you will be paying for your own gas).
- Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
- Printer.
- Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Earnings are equivalent to $30–$40 per hour.
Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates, and higher‑volume counties have lower rates. Work is consistent month‑to‑month, and you can earn more by becoming established, increasing availability, or covering a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement is provided beyond the flat fee per inspection.
