Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform HVAC maintenance by troubleshooting and diagnosing the replacement or repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Possess and maintain the Universal EPA/CFC license/certification (in order to purchase and handle refrigerants).
- Perform electrical maintenance, including but not limited to the replacement or repair of fixtures, switches, outlets, lights (incandescent, fluorescent, LED), working on 480V, motors 1ph and 3ph, ballast, sockets, fuses, and appliances, using appropriate power and specialty tools.
- Perform plumbing maintenance, including the replacement or repair of leaks, unclogging of drains, trenches, and pumps, and the installation of sewer and water lines.
- Perform painting and carpentry, preparing surfaces and using brushes, sprayers, or rollers to apply paints, stains, or varnishes; hanging doors, windows, building additions, and installing sheetrock.
- Reconfigure, install, position, and remount modular offices and space (furniture, storage bins, lighting, and cabinets) to accommodate user needs.
- Order parts and maintain required documents.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Notify area leader when issues arise.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Attend daily safety department meetings.
- Communicate with supervisors and other team members throughout the shift to ensure daily tasks are clear.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
- Good mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a minimum of 2 years on-the-job experience as an HVAC technician.
- Must possess and maintain a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (or equivalent).
- Must possess and maintain the Universal EPA/CFC certification (in order to purchase and handle refrigerants).
- Must have a minimum of 1 year on-the-job experience in the performance of ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems, equipment, and components or a certificate/diploma or degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology (or equivalent).
- Must be able to read blueprints.
- Must pass Auxiliary Equipment & Electrical Equipment Tests.
- Must have the ability to weld and pass a Blue Bird Welding Assessment (MIG, Stick, Brazing/Torch).
- Must pass D1 level test (PLC & troubleshooting).
- High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D. is required.
- Must pass criminal background check, drug screen, and Blue Bird physical.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, and fumes.
- Fast-paced environment with moving objects, sharp edges, and congested working areas.
- Will be crawling, pushing, pulling, kneeling, reaching overhead, grasping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Will be climbing ladders; operating a golf cart; performing roof repairs.
- Will use vibratory tools; 220 volt/440 volt.
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:
- Must meet established quality and maintenance standards.
- Practice good housekeeping.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must meet established attendance policy and work overtime when required.
- Must perform other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
