We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Power Electronics Engineer with expertise in programming Digital Signal Controllers, specifically the Texas Instruments (TI) C2000 Delfino series microcontrollers (MCUs), for power converter control applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power electronics, control systems, and embedded programming, and will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing control algorithms for various power conversion systems.
You will analyze and design high reliability, high-power AC-DC & DC-DC power converters and power sub-systems for applications including radar, directed energy, and military more electric vehicles.
- Performs design and development of power converters incorporating modern topologies to achieve high performance at reasonable cost.
- Design and develop control algorithms for power converters using TI C2000 Delfino series MCUs.
- Implement and optimize control strategies for applications such as DC-DC converters, inverters, and motor drives.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate control algorithms with power electronic hardware.
- Perform system modeling, simulation, and analysis to validate control strategies.
- Perform detailed circuit analysis to verify design compliance to specific performance targets. Analysis to include computer aided modeling and the generation of schematics.
- Prepare and review technical reports/documentation necessary to satisfy customer, internal and program requirements, including specifications, design documents, test plans/procedures, reports, correspondence, etc.
- Support the bid and proposal process through technical assistance, prelimnary designs, research and development, etc.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
- 8+ years industry experience in electronics power conversion product design and manufacturing
- Expertise in programming TI C2000 Delfino series (or similar) MCUs for power converter control.
- Proven experience in DC-DC, AC-DC converter, or inverter design.
- Strong understanding of power electronics principles, including topologies, switching techniques, and control methods.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming and familiarity with TI Code Composer Studio (CCS) or similar environments.
- Knowledge of digital control theory and techniques, including PID, state-space, and model predictive control.
- Hands-on experience with system modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to document and present technical information clearly.
- Eligibility Requirement:
This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
- Demonstrated experience with manufacturing standards and practices.
- Ability to provide leadership to engineering design staff.
- Demonstrated multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
- Experience with designing product for harsh environments such as military applications.
- Advanced degree (MSEE / PhD) in power electronics with relevant published research
