Role Summary

We’re looking for a hands‑on, solutions‑driven Mechanical Plant Engineer to join our team! This role ensures our equipment runs smoothly and reliably while leading major projects that improve how we operate. You’ll manage both day‑to‑day maintenance and long‑term upgrades to equipment and infrastructure, working closely with other departments to keep everything running safely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment—including motors, controls, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, refrigeration, and automation.
  • Lead facility and equipment upgrade projects from start to finish: planning, budgeting, working with vendors and contractors, and ensuring everything meets quality, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Establish and manage preventive maintenance schedules, and maintain records of all equipment and service history.
  • Supervise engineering and maintenance team members, including training, task delegation, and performance support.
  • Collaborate with other departments (production, sanitation, quality, accounting) to understand equipment needs and keep operations running smoothly.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and implement new technology or equipment.
  • Ensure all work complies with GMPs, OSHA standards, and food safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Provide training and documentation for staff on new or modified equipment.
  • Maintain and report on quarterly departmental tool and spare parts inventory.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies that can benefit the facility.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical or project engineering, ideally in food manufacturing or a similar environment.
  • 3–5+ years of experience supervising or leading a maintenance or engineering team.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, refrigeration, and facility utilities.
  • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD or Solid Works.
  • Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and priorities while staying on budget and schedule.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and occasional stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Ability to work any shift, including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Must have full color vision. Accurate color perception is essential to identify electrical components and read color‑coded drawings. Individuals with red‑green color deficiencies are not suited for this role.
  • Visual requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
