We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Compliance Specialist / Finance Assistant to support the Fort Walton Beach Housing Authority’s mission by ensuring adherence to HUD compliance requirements while providing financial and administrative support to the Finance Department. This position plays a dual role, maintaining compliance oversight for housing programs (including Section 8, conventional, and HUD-affiliated properties) and assisting with the Authority’s daily financial operations, such as accounts payable, reconciliations, and reporting.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HUD compliance and basic accounting principles, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments to maintain accuracy and regulatory compliance. Ensure compliance with HUD regulations, including NSPIRE, HQS, PHAS, SEMAP, and Operating Subsidy reporting standards. Review tenant and program files for accuracy and completeness, including rent calculations and subsidy documentation. Accurately process accounts payable and receivable using PHA-Web or other accounting software.
What You Need:
Associate’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred). Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in HUD compliance, finance, or property management. Valid Florida driver’s license and ability to travel locally between properties.
