Fort Walton Machining, Inc. was formed in 1987 as a specialized custom manufacturing operation to serve Eglin Air Force Base and its prime contractors. The company quickly earned a reputation for delivering highly technical precision machining with zero defects on time. In 1991 it became a certified “Dock to Stock” supplier and received AS9100 certification, playing a key role in the Air Force AMRAAM project.

Summary
:
Primarily responsible for programming, setting up and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to perform complex, precise measurements of parts and to conduct visual and dimensional inspections in order to verify accuracy to specifications.
- Set up and operate CMM to produce accurate measurements of parts.
- Read and interpret specifications, blueprints, templates, and layouts for product tolerances and dimensions.
- Write, modify, or create new CMM programs.
- Verify measurement conformance of parts to specifications and/or blueprints.
- Provide manufacturing with first‑piece and in‑process data to ensure part conformance.
- Interpret measurement output data and graphic data.
- Program CMMs using PC‑DMIS software.
- Read and understand blueprints and technical data including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Apply coordinate measuring machine techniques and applications.
- Use strong mathematical and mechanical skills.
- Know manufacturing processes, CNC equipment, and quality standards.
- Use precision measuring tools effectively.
- Demonstrate problem‑solving skills.
- Must have 5 years’ experience using PC‑DMIS software.
- Must have 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong GD&T/blueprint reading skills and excellent communication (written and verbal).
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools.
Regularly required to sit, occasionally stand, bend, reach, and move about the quality lab. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 lbs.
