Overnight Sanitation Supervisor

G.S. Gelato is a leading nationwide manufacturer of authentic Italian gelato, sorbet, soft serve, and non-dairy frozen desserts for the retail/grocery and food service industries. We are looking for an Overnight Sanitation Supervisor to join our team.

This individual directs, coordinates and controls the sanitation function within all the facility operations. Responsible for the sanitary condition of the plant, ensuring good sanitation practices and cost‑effective programs. Implements sanitation policies, programs, and procedures toward the objective of producing facility products free of extraneous material and bacterial or other contamination and complying with all regulatory and industry standards.

*** This is a night position from 9pm-6am.***

• Supports company quality objectives, regulatory compliance, and cost effectiveness.
• Recommends to Department Manager any necessary changes in production methods or programs to elevate food sanitation, consistent with company policies and procedures.
• Continually reviews sanitation procedures, standards, and policies to ensure adherence to local, state and federal laws and codes governing safety, sanitation and labor relations.
• Creates, implements, and trains staff on sanitation standard operating procedures.
• Ensures equipment and areas are clean and sanitized in pasteurization and production prior to start times.
• Performs equipment cleaning including Clean In Place (CIP) prior to department start times.
• Cleans locker rooms, restrooms, and other areas.
• Supports Department Manager in planning, organizing, and managing an effective sanitation program through training, scheduling cleaning procedures, and effective records maintenance.
• Organizes, conducts or assists in the implementation of employee training in sanitation procedures and safety matters.
• Trains and provides direction and leadership to the Sanitation Staff so that quality facility goods can be produced and shipped to meet customer requirements.
• Ability to prepare/maintain Sanitation Schedule, logs, and other documentation and distribute information as needed.
• Responsible for minor repairs to the building, e.g. carpeting, wood floors, etc. Assists in the maintenance and the clean and orderly appearance of the buildings and grounds.
• Ordering of Sanitation supplies and maintaining inventories, as necessary.
• Serves as company resource person on all sanitation matters.

• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in Sanitation in a food‑processing environment, preferably a facility environment.
• Capable of exerting 20 to 100 pounds of force occasionally to handle and move sanitation equipment and chemicals.
• Mental and visual ability to identify various forms of insects and states of cleanliness. Performs routine and non-routine tasks following complex instructions.
• Capable of moving up and down building stairways and equipment ladders in facility to reach job assignments and perform the tasks required in the sanitation process. Tasks require standing, walking, grasping, lifting, twisting, pushing, pulling, climbing, feeling and bending.
• Capable of understanding complex instructions and reading notices and work schedules as posted on the bulletin board. Memory skills required for recall of Sanitation Operating Procedures and sanitation regulatory requirements.
