Overview
Fort Walton Machining, Inc. was formed in 1987 as a specialized custom manufacturing operation, specifically to service Eglin Air Force Base and its prime contractors. The mission has been to provide highly technical, precision machining with zero defects, delivered on time, and to the complete satisfaction of customers. Fort Walton Machining became a certified “Dock to Stock” supplier for one of its major customers as early as 1991.
The company is certified to AS9100 Quality Standards, as well as government and military standards such as MIL-I-45208A, and has supported the Air Force AMRAAM project from 1991 to 1993. The long-term vision has been to expand into commercial markets while continuing to serve the military and its prime contractors. In 1995, the company formed a business alliance with a major corporation in the medical industry, leading to additional opportunities internationally.
Fort Walton Machining has grown into an international service company capable of supporting customers around the world.
Job Description
Summary: Calibration technicians maintain, test and repair a variety of instrumentation and equipment. Their primary job is to ensure that instruments, gauges and testing devices are calibrated correctly and give accurate readings.
Responsibilities- Must be able to develop calibration testing procedures for each piece of equipment based on detailed drawings, blueprints and other technical specifications provided by your employer or the instrument manufacturer.
- Must compile, measure and record data from each instrument for other technicians and managers to review. Reports should include practical recommendations and an assessment of any potential cost overruns.
- Additional tasks may include training subordinates, ordering replacement parts for faulty equipment, and researching advances in calibration techniques.
- Test, calibrate, and schedule repairs for electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards, and assists in formulating calibration standards.
- Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
- Disassemble instruments and equipment, using hand tools, and inspects components for defects.
- Reassembles and calibrates instruments and equipment.
- Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
Education And Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years’ experience in a job shop environment preferred.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Basic computer skills are required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
