This is an entry level position leading to a fully certified electrical mechanical technician position. The position performs electrical and mechanical maintenance of industrial water, wastewater treatment equipment, pumping stations, and all related equipment.
Location & ScheduleElectrical/Mechanical Technician 1 is located at South Cross Bayou, WWTP, 7401 54th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL 33709.
Work schedule:
Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
- Repair and maintain various types of equipment related to wastewater and water treatment facilities.
- Troubleshoot mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, turbines, compressors, generators, chemical feed systems, and control panels.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting and repair on supply and control components.
- Perform welding and fabrication of equipment.
- Repair metal/PVC piping and fittings.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on process equipment.
- Generate Work Management – Maximo work orders.
- Generate order requests for material purchase.
- Work with spreadsheet applications to generate equipment reports.
- Work various hours or shifts as needed or assigned.
- Utilize work management system to produce spreadsheet applications and equipment reports.
- Daily use of various software applications to perform job duties.
- Completion of a two‑year technical or vocational program in mechanical skills or electrical trades in Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance; or
- 2 years of journeyman experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy mechanical equipment and machinery in Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Commercial Driver License within 6 months of hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) driving report.
- Assignment to work a variety of scheduled work, including compulsory periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
- Must be able to perform Standby rotation and after‑hour call‑out duties required for field operations and emergency events.
- Participate in mandatory Emergency Response Plan Phase 1 or Phase 2 as delineated.
- Ability to follow blueprints, P&, and process diagrams.
