Position: Aircraft Mechanic I

Overview

Aircraft Mechanic I - C-130 Structures at Y-Tech Services Inc. Regular position. The Aircraft Mechanic I inspects, troubleshoots malfunctions, rigs, repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components and aircraft systems of moderate difficulty. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, rivet gun, and drills.

Reads and interprets manufacturers and maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Duties may include adjusting, repairing, or replacing electrical system wiring and aircraft accessories; performing preflight, thru-flight, and basic post-flight maintenance inspections; performing as Refuel/Defuel, Jack and Tow Team member/supervisor. May also perform other miscellaneous aircraft servicing including, but not limited to Lox, Hydraulic and Engine Oil, servicing aircraft tires and performing aircraft lubrications.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, rig, repair, and modify aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures (e.g., wings, fuselage) and functional components including rigging and surface controls using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment (e.g., shears, sheet metal brake, rivet gun, drills).
  • Inspect components/repairs for structural serviceability according to specifications and technical publications.
  • Remove and install close tolerance, high-strength fasteners in major aircraft structural components.
  • Manufacture with the use of jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds to fabricate repair or replacement parts.
  • Use advanced metalworking practices, equipment, and tools to form, cut, bend, and fasten replacement or repair parts to damaged structures and components.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition and operation; apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems.
  • Read and interpret manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine repair or replacement methods for malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical system wiring and aircraft accessories; perform preflight, thru-flight, and basic post-flight maintenance inspections; participate as Refuel/Defuel, Jack and Tow Team member/supervisor.
  • Perform miscellaneous aircraft servicing including Lox, Hydraulic and Engine Oil services; service aircraft tires and perform aircraft lubes.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of aircraft structural maintenance experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft structural and mechanical systems; ability to apply knowledge to solve moderate to complex problems or malfunctions.
  • Ability to interpret technical orders, blueprints, or other written guidance to accomplish repairs, replacements, or modifications of structural components.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical components with ability to troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and replace parts/components; broad working knowledge of C-130J/H aircraft systems including hydraulics, structures, engines, refuel pods, and electrical systems.
  • Experience performing periodic and other hourly, special, or calendar inspections.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory and thorough knowledge of aircraft-specific tools (test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, and powered/non-powered support equipment).
  • Proficiency with USAF Technical Orders, the Data Transfer and Diagnostic System (DTADS), documentation of AFTO 781 forms, and entering data into the Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS); experience with entering entries in aircraft logs and records; ability to prioritize workload to meet schedules.
