Early Childhood Primary Teacher Position - Toddlers
Location: Fort Wayne, IN (Beacon Learning Center)
Base Pay: $15.00/hr - $18.00/hr
SummaryEarly Childhood Alliance (ECA) is a non‑profit organization with a mission to build better futures for young children through excellence in early childhood care and education. Children from 6 weeks to pre‑school age are cared for in a classroom setting at our Beacon Street location in Fort Wayne. A Primary Teacher plans and delivers developmental care, fostering a positive self‑concept and helping children reach their full potential.
The role involves creating lesson plans, maintaining routines, and ensuring frequent contact with staff, children, and families to provide the highest quality care.
This position serves the toddler age group (15 months to 2.5 years) and is full‑time from 9:30–5:30 AM, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities- Provide a safe, secure environment that encourages curiosity, activity, and self‑discipline.
- Develop warm, caring relationships with each child and parent based on mutual respect, serving as a role model for children.
- Guide child behaviour positively, supporting total growth, development, and self–esteem.
- Interact frequently with children, showing interest, respect, and responsiveness to their needs.
- Assess developmental progress and implement developmentally sequential lesson plans that promote confidence.
- Collaborate with families, scheduling conferences and supporting them in child‑centric decisions.
- Support staff to achieve centre goals through cooperative relationships.
- Attend to children’s daily physical needs and document care appropriately.
- Use materials and equipment responsibly, maintaining a clean, safe environment.
- Adhere to all licensing regulations, policies, and agency procedures.
- 18 years of age or older, minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift 45 lb., bend, stoop, stretch, squat, push, pull, sit, and walk at a child’s eye level.
- Effective communication with children of all ages, customers, and co‑workers.
- General knowledge of child development and the support required to meet developmental needs.
- 21 years of age or older for infant to toddler classrooms.
- Coursework or training in early childhood education.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood or a related field.
- Knowledge of the High Scope Curriculum.
- Proficiency in technology for record‑keeping, anecdotal records, planning, and communication.

ECA provides CPR/First Aid training to all staff and promotes the INAEYC T.E.A.C.H scholarship for teachers working more than 20 hours per week.
