Responsibilities
  • Maintain all records related to student academic progress, academic policy, and curricular details.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and other reporting requirements and work closely with other university offices as appropriate.
  • Support strategic goals for enrollment, retention, persistence, and graduation and focus on improving the performance and accuracy of owned processes.
  • Oversee the maintenance of student academic records, including transcripts and degree certifications; provide leadership and supervision to the Office of the Registrar and its staff; and provide exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and staff regarding enrollment and academic services.
  • Plan, administer, and oversee the departmental budget and coordinate the production of the annual Academic Catalog, including revisions to curriculum, academic policies, and programs.
  • Maintain and disseminate information about current academic policy, curricular requirements, and course inventory; coordinate the creation of the university academic calendar and registration timing.
  • Coordinate, with the support of Information Technology and others, the effort to effectively automate processes that enhance the user experience for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Work with appropriate offices to coordinate university commencement exercises and track, monitor, and report on the performance of owned processes that have direct or indirect impact on related departmental and/or institutional results.
  • Serve as the university’s primary contact with the National Student Clearinghouse, collaborate with Institutional Research, and support relevant offices, committees, and processes related to maintaining university academic standards.
Policy and Compliance
  • Carry out academic policy and procedures and make initial decisions regarding exceptions in consultation with the Deans and/or VPAA.
  • Ensure compliance with all required federal, state, accreditation, and university policies related to the responsibilities of the office.
  • Oversee adherence to all athletic governing policies, academic eligibility procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Serve as university compliance officer for the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Qualifications
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible work experience, including leadership and supervisory roles.
  • Prior experience working in a registrar’s office or closely related area in a higher education institution.
  • Experience working with traditional as well as non‑traditional student populations.
  • Experience with student information systems (SIS), customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), or related systems (Jenzabar preferred).
  • Knowledge of higher education institutional and programmatic accreditation processes.
  • Commitment to ethical practice and the ability to examine and re‑engineer operations, processes, and procedures.
