The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for two faculty positions beginning August 2026. The positions are contingent upon available funding and a satisfactory background check. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled.

1. Tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Organic Chemistry

Teaching responsibilities include organic chemistry and introductory chemistry. Faculty are expected to conduct research and participate in student advising as well as service to the department and university. The successful candidate must provide (1) evidence of effectiveness in teaching undergraduate courses and labs in organic and general chemistry and (2) a list of experiences and/or goals for establishing an active research program involving undergraduate students.

A Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or closely related fields such as Bioorganic or Bio‑inorganic Chemistry is required.

All candidates invited for a campus interview will be expected to do a 45‑60‑minute instructional student presentation as well as a presentation on their proposed research program and how they would incorporate undergraduate students in their research.

2. Lecturer in Chemistry

Full‑time teaching (12 credit hours per semester) responsibilities include lectures and labs in general chemistry as well as upper‑level inorganic chemistry. Faculty are expected to participate in student advising as well as service to the department and university. The successful candidate must provide evidence of effectiveness in teaching undergraduate courses and labs in general chemistry and inorganic chemistry. A Ph.D. (preferred) or master’s degree in chemistry with specialization in inorganic chemistry is required.

All candidates invited for a campus interview will be expected to do a 50‑minute instructional student presentation on a selected topic in inorganic chemistry. Purdue University Fort Wayne will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Department programs include an ACS certified Chemistry undergraduate degree alongside a relatively new bachelor’s degree program in Biochemistry, with 70‑80 undergraduate majors total. Departmental focus is on providing students with a high‑quality educational experience complete with high‑impact practices such as research and professional development opportunities.
