PURPOSE
Perform a variety of clerical library duties involved in the circulation, maintenance, processing and distribution of books, instructional materials and media at an assigned elementary, middle or high school site; monitor and provide assistance to students in the selection, location and use of library materials and equipment
MINIMUM QUALIFACTIONS
- Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years clerical or library experience including work with computer operations.
- Must have strong office, computer and oral and written communication skills. Incumbents must possess knowledge of the general aspects, methods, processes, principles, practices, procedures and terminology used in assigned field .
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist students and teachers in the selection, location and use of library materials, media and equipment; respond to inquiries and provide information to students and teachers; assist students in researching instructional materials for classroom use; assist students with library technology hardware and software.
- Check out and check in library material assigned computer system; sort and organize the checked in library materials; put the library materials back on the shelf or in the library office.
- Straighten and front the library shelves and displays; remove outdated and damaged library materials for the shelves; repair library materials with glue and/or tape.
- Assist Library clerk with distributing new library materials; supply the library basket with non-circulating books for use in the library.
- Monitor and maintain acceptable student behavior in the library; assure student compliance with established library rules and policies.
- Organize and prepare library displays, decorations and bulletin boards as required; maintain the library in a neat and orderly condition; assist with the set up and operation of the Scholastic Book Fair; assist setting up the Media Center for large group presentations.
- Supports the FWCS Schools of Success mission to empower all students to reach their potential through equitable and relevant community-connected experiences to ensure students achieve at least one of the 4E's - (Enrollment, Employment, Enlistment, or Entrepreneurship.)

- Mobility: Freedom to sit or walk at will throughout the work environment.
- Strength and Stamina: Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to fifty (50) pounds or more.
