We are seeking a Senior Technical Metallurgist to join our Quality Team. This role involves interpreting customer quality requirements and specific material needs, performing in-depth metallographic analysis, and leading continuous improvement projects within the manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will evaluate compliance with international standards and specifications and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities- Technical oversight for the suitability of test equipment (CAPEX projects included), procedures, and applications for the Metallurgical Laboratory.
- Interpretation of customer requirements regarding quality and specific material requirements, including interpretation and evaluation of applicable external specifications (ASTM, AMS, ASME, etc.).
- Provide leadership and assistance for the following:
- Third-party and customer material testing audits including NADCAP
- Quality/technical projects
- Non-conforming teams
- Evaluation of metallurgical testing results and data related to nonconformance, trends, and recommendations for improvement
- Disposition recommendations of nonconforming material
- Process changes and continuous improvement
- Process corrective action resolution
- Write and present claim reports detailing evaluation and final disposition
- Meet and interact with customers regarding claims.
- Attend applicable ASTM and other trade group meetings to stay abreast of proposed changes and their impact on the Valbruna Group.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership for lab data and certification systems (current and new).
- Perform internal audits.
- Ensure adherence to all safety procedures and regulations.
- Perform additional, related duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in ASTM, AMS, and ASME specifications and their interpretations.
- Strong analytical skills and expertise in metallurgy and materials science.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in leading quality improvement projects and internal audits.
- Demonstrated capability for detailed quality control and defect analysis.
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Chemical/Physical Sciences.
- 7+ years’ experience, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years’ specifically related experience.
U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required due to ITAR and EAR Regulations.
