This on‑site role at our Baton Rouge, LA site brings you into a fast‑paced, collaborative work environment at Jacobs, where you’ll be working closely with clients in the Data Center market. The role is open to candidates located anywhere in the United States, with preference for those near a Jacobs U.S. office.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing Wireless systems in iBwave and EDX
- Coordination with BIM designers to create drawing packages
- Coordination with AHJ’s, Radio System Owners, and the Carriers
- DIV 27 specification creation or modification
- Conducting site visits
- Reviewing technical documents
- Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Technical or associate’s degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum 5 years’ experience actively designing wireless telecommunications systems, including LMR 2‑way radio (outdoor LMR, Site Radio, RoIP), Public Safety DAS, Commercial DAS (OTA, Neutral Host, DRAN), and related systems
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner or a combination of 5 years’ experience with different modeling programs
- Experience working with clients to identify wireless communication needs
- Experience troubleshooting wireless communication system issues from field teams
- Knowledge of Noise Floor, SNIR, Return Loss and VSWR
- Ability to optimize networks in both design and installation phases
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 72, 1221, 1225 and IFC section 510
- Knowledge of FCC Part 20, Part 90, OET Bulletin 65, MOTOTRBO systems, Motorola R56 standards, DMR Tier III, IBC and Carrier KPIs
- Experience with Navisworks and responding to RFPs
- Project management skills: creating and maintaining budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation
- iBwave Level 2 Certification (required)
- Experience designing Wi‑Fi systems
- EDX or Motorola design certifications
- FCC GROL, NICET Design Certification, or multiple OEM product certifications
- Electrical or Communication Engineering degree, or EIT/PE designation
