A Food Process Engineer at Shambaugh is expected to perform quality food process engineering design services in a professional manner so projects are implemented that meet or exceed our customer’s satisfaction for schedule and budget.

• Responsible for flow diagrams and ensuring specifications are developed in accordance with customer requirements, Shambaugh standards, and regulatory agency requirements.
• Conduct production line time studies, capacity usage studies, and product mass flow calculations.
• Confirm process utility spreadsheets are filled out and distributed to the project disciplines identifying utility service needs.
• Create detailed scope of work that clearly and concisely communicates our scope to clients and estimating department.
• Utilize standard practices for engineering calculations, spreadsheets, equipment schedules, standard details, piping methods, and control sequences.
• Develop project installation requirements to adequately convey scope of work and level of quality to client, internal estimating staff, and field installation staff.
• For projects that proceed to construction: distribute approval drawings and equipment specification sheets to the appropriate project team members in a timely manner; prepare a written functional description for Shambaugh Automation Group; provide on-site engineering support; commission projects (including troubleshooting) and train owner operators.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural, Chemical, Mechanical, or Food Process Engineering.
• 3-5 years of experience in the Food and Beverage industry with design and project emphasis.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Travel is expected with this position, duration determined as required for project design and execution.
• Proficient with MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• AutoCAD proficiency is a plus.
• Clear and effective communication skills in written and oral work.
• Regular and reliable attendance, including extended hours and weekends as required.
