Position
Purpose:
The Civil Engineer 1 will provide design and plan production for general civil design on a wide variety of projects which may include site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities. Will perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Perform engineering calculations in support of civil engineering design projects.
- Perform onsite construction observation or other field verification tasks as needed.
- Perform AutoCAD Civil 3D design/drafting in support of civil engineering design projects.
- Coordinate with necessary government agencies, client staff, and other professionals to obtain design information and approvals.
- Identify engineering and surveying services needed by the client and draft proposals and estimate fees.
- Write and edit construction specifications and engineering reports.
- Tabulate bid items, calculate construction bid quantities, and construction costs from plans and specifications.
- Ability to plan, schedule work, and complete work assignments within established budgets and timelines using discretion and judgment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team of planners, engineers, surveyors, architects, and technicians.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Proficiency and hands‑on experience with computer applications such as AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- 0‑5 years of experience in construction or civil engineering field.
- Successfully passed FE exam.
- Position based in Fort Wayne, IN.
- Travel between offices for collaboration with team members and for project meetings as needed.
- Travel to job sites as needed.
