Position: MILITARY & FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST

Overview

Open to qualified candidates for an Indiana National Guard Title 5 Excepted Service position as a Military & Family Readiness Specialist. Applications accepted 11/20/2025 – 12/04/2025. Salary range $61,111 – $80,182 per year (GS‑9).

Duties

  • Serve as an independent advisor in the geographic area of responsibility to accomplish the Soldier & Family Readiness Program objectives.
  • Manage the family assistance center and provide support to commands within the area.
  • Provide training and technical support to Commanders and Family Readiness Liaisons for the Unit Family Readiness Program and SFRGs.
  • Submit information to support development and budget forecasting for the Soldier & Family Readiness Support Program to higher headquarters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Males born after 31 Dec 1959 must register for Selective Service.
  • Background investigation required for federal employment suitability.
  • Probationary period may be required.
  • Drug test mandatory.
  • Direct deposit participation required.
  • Security clearance required.
  • Possess effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers.
  • Travel by car, military or commercial aircraft and other transportation may be required.
  • Overshift hours may be required.
  • Valid driver’s license required if motor vehicle use.

Qualifications

  • General

    Experience:

    Knowledge of principles of organization, management, administration; experience compiling reports, memoranda; experience providing technical guidance and assistance.
  • Specialized

    Experience:

    At least 1 year specialized experience, equivalent to the next lower grade level; thorough knowledge of administrative procedures.
