Coliseum Information Technology Director

Under the direction of the Executive Vice President and General Manager, the IT Director is responsible for the maintenance, inventory, and security of all systems and equipment that relate to the technological functions of the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. This position is covered as defined by the Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for all aspects of the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum’s computer systems including long‑range planning, design, configuration, implementation, documentation, and training.
  • Supervises the AV‑IT Services Manager (full‑time) and the Audio‑Visual Department (one other full‑time employee and 25 part‑time employees).
  • Administers Microsoft Entra, Microsoft 365, Exchange, and SharePoint admin centers.
  • Maintains department LAN and WLAN for 55+ users.
  • Manages multiple client‑specific VLANs and WLANs used throughout the facility.
  • Establishes and maintains security, work groups, work group managers, and users.
  • Monitors system performance to prevent unscheduled downtime and data loss.
  • Manages all internet and system use and ensures adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Maintains highest level of internal and external security on wired and wireless network systems.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains commercial software programs and coordinates with vendor technical support.
  • Analyzes vendor changes and enhancements to determine impact on existing systems.
  • Oversees network backups and monitors file server directories, removing outdated files.
  • Manages backup data to ensure restore capability.
  • Maintains a computer library of reference materials and software.
  • Keeps current knowledge of developments in computer technology, software, and hardware through training seminars.
  • Communicates with users of varying computer expertise.
  • Maintains wireless and wired internet access throughout the facility.
  • Assesses and recommends changes or upgrades to ensure guest and client satisfaction.
  • Configures, adds, and manages Cisco and Meraki switches, routers, firewalls, and access points.
  • Manages telephone systems, lighting systems, digital recorders, cameras, security systems, and related technology.
  • Consults with system vendors to resolve issues and recommend future improvements and upgrades.
  • Assists staff with signage, video, television system programming, and operating systems.
  • Assists Marketing Department with support for scheduling software, in‑house TV broadcast systems, and web page updates.
  • Assists Audio‑Visual Department in television controls, video, and sound production for events.
  • Manages and troubleshoots the Ticket Office network and handheld ticket entry system.
  • Configures, sets up, and manages POS, menu boards, and premium seating handheld POS systems, adding additional points of sale as needed.
  • Manages and maintains Windows servers, laptops, and desktop computers.
  • Manages and maintains network and local printers and supplies.
  • Researches and recommends infrastructure upgrades and changes to hardware and software.
  • Generates reports, analyzes needs, conducts follow‑up discussions, and revises after implementation.
  • Provides assistance and instruction to network users.
  • Conducts individual and periodic classroom training.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology Systems or equivalent certification or experience specific to technology.
  • Five years of experience in computer networking and Wi‑Fi networking, CISCO and Meraki switches and routers, and creating and maintaining VLANs.
  • Preferred CISCO certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer software and hardware.
  • Logical thinking to address hardware, software, and networking issues and develop resolutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including training ability.

The IT Director performs broad, unprecedented work, maintaining the highest level of security on wired and wireless network systems. Judgment and adaptation are required when assessing and recommending system upgrades to ensure guest and client satisfaction.
